Dear 4C Families,

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your break. Thank you for all of those who attended the Parent-Teacher Conferences. It was great opportunity to talk about your child's progress and ways to finish the year strong.

Recitations of Paul Revere's Ride went great last week. Your child should receive their marks by the end of the week.

We will have a Spalding Quiz on Friday.

If you have not done so already, please have your student bring "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum to class this week. Barnes and Noble Classic published the version we use.

This week in Science we begin a new unit on Meteorology. Take some time this week to go outside, have your student describe the weather to you or take note of cloud formations you as a family notice.

In Math, we are continuing to work with decimals and understanding their relationships to fractions. I am also offering to tutor on Monday and Tuesday this quarter to students who have demonstrated a need for some additional attention. If you received an email from me last Friday, please let me know if your child will not be able to attend.

In History, we are beginning our unit on the spread of Islam. When we study religions at school we do so for purely academic purposes. We study origins, cultural, historical, and scientific significance. I am currently looking for a potential guest lecturer from ASU who might be willing to speak with our classes about Islam.

Thank you and have a wonderful week,

Mr. Leonard
