Dear Parents,
Your students are going to be working on a friendly letter this weekend. The objective: Write a letter to your "cousin George" in England explaining why colonists in New England are not happy with Parliament in 1766. They will be writing from the perspective of a colonist. Their letter should have three main points:
The Proclamation Act of 1763, The Quartering Act, and "No Taxation without Representation."
This essay should look like a letter, including a heading (return address), a Greeting, the body (argument), a closing (Your cousin, ...) and a signature. The entire essay should be written in cursive.
It should be written in 5 paragraph form, with an introduction, three body paragraphs for each main point, and a conclusion wrapping up the letter.
This essay letter will be due Monday. Please treat it as a rough draft and as practice for the AZ Merit writing exam.
Thank you,
Mr. Leonard
